Every resolved tap is classified and recorded with its evidence — not just a redirect.
Explainable, not a black box
TapTrust doesn't show a single opaque "trust score." Every interaction records what kind of evidence supports it — whether that's a fully registered tag credential or an older-style tag where the physical method can't be independently confirmed — and why.
Claims can't upgrade themselves
A client claiming "this was NFC" never decides its own evidence level — the server classifies every interaction from the credential itself, so a copied link can't pretend to be a physical tap.
Append-only interaction record
Once an interaction is classified, that record can't be edited or deleted at the database level — only ever superseded by a later correction, which stays visible in the history.
Today, most TapTrust tags are labelled honestly as "TapTrust interaction — physical method not verified" — real, resolved, and tied to a real business, but without a registered credential behind them yet. As tags are provisioned with a registered credential, that same tap can earn "Registered TapTrust interaction." Cryptographically-secured NFC verification, which would allow the strongest "Secure interaction verified" label, is on our roadmap and not yet live for any tag.

Common questions
Do I need an account to use TapTrust?
No. You can use TapTrust's core features without signing in. An account is only needed when you subscribe to Plus, Pro or Business, or when you write to an NFC tag.
What's the difference between a Contact Card and a Smart Profile?
A Contact Card shares your details in a standard format the recipient's phone can offer to save directly — no app needed on their side. A Smart Profile is the richer experience: your role, business, links and ways to connect, shown as a page rather than a single saved contact. You choose which one a tag or link opens.
Does the person I tap need the TapTrust app?
No. They tap or scan, the experience opens in their phone's browser, and they choose what to do next — save the contact, view the profile, or take the configured action. No TapTrust app or account is required to receive a tap.
What's the difference between Free, Plus and Pro?
Free lets you create a Smart Profile and share your Contact Card. Plus and Pro unlock more sharing and customisation, and Pro is required to program NFC tags. Full pricing is shown in the App Store.
Do I need to buy TapTrust-branded NFC tags?
No. TapTrust works with standard NFC tags you can source from any supplier. Pro unlocks the ability to program a tag directly from the app.
What does TapTrust actually record about an interaction?
When a tap or scan resolves, TapTrust classifies what kind of evidence it has and labels it honestly — most tags today resolve as "physical method not verified" rather than a stronger claim, since they don't yet carry a registered credential. It never upgrades a claim of "this was NFC" just because a client says so; the server decides from the credential itself, and the classification is recorded at the database level in a way that can't be edited, only superseded.
Can TapTrust still send people to my Google reviews?
Yes. TapTrust can direct customers to your configured Google review page when they tap, and a Business account can connect a public Google listing to bring in its rating and reviews. Full Google Business Profile management — replying to reviews from within TapTrust — is coming soon and isn't available yet.
What does TapTrust Business add?
TapTrust Business (£49/month or £490/year) adds Lead Capture, Business Analytics, Team Management, CRM Export and a Custom Domain slug on top of your account.
Is there a free trial for TapTrust Business?
Not currently. You can explore Smart Profiles and Contact Card sharing for free on the individual app, then subscribe to Business when you're ready.
What happens if someone's phone doesn't support NFC?
TapTrust tags also carry a QR code fallback, so a tap or a quick scan both work.
